Visit Utomo House

At the end of this year, I visited a coffee shop again at Utomo House, which is located in Tambaksogra, Sumbang, Banyumas Regency, Central Java. I deliberately went here because I happened to have finished shopping for something, and coincidentally, the weather had just finished raining, so it was perfect for drinking coffee.

The menu here is quite varied. I ordered regular Arabica coffee from Gayo BM (Bener Meriah). Bener Meriah is the name of a district in Aceh, Indonesia. There are also those from Ethiopia, Kenya, Ijen Lestari, and Garut, all of which have different characteristics. In addition, I ordered the Choco toast to fill my stomach.

Various origins of coffee

Time for review, first of course coffee. Arabica coffee has a characteristic sour taste, but the coffee from Gayo BM has slightly sweet characteristics. When there is little remaining coffee, the sour taste becomes stronger. I chose Gayo BM coffee because it has a unique natural sweet taste, whereas other coffees have distinctive aroma characteristics. Next was the choco toast, the chocolate toast was really delicious, the chocolate taste was perfect and not too sweet, and the quantity was not stingy, there were four pieces of bread that made me very full and addicted.

Gayo BM Arabica Coffee and Choco Toast

The place in this coffee shop is quite comfortable and not too spacious, and the tables are too small and feel quite far from the city center. The employees and baristas here are very friendly and welcome. The Wi-Fi here is very fast, and when I watched live football, there were no problems. The price for Gayo BM Arabica coffee is IDR 25 K and Choco Toast IDR 15 K, I can say the price is quite fantastic. The total number of reviews was 8.5/10.

View inside the coffee shop

This coffee shop is closed on Mondays and usually open between 2 pm to 11 pm. I accidentally met one of my friends from high school at this coffee shop. Perhaps, we can have coffee together ☕.

Memories Coffee

At the end of 2023, I visited a coffee shop located at SPBU 44.531.23 Karanglewas, namely Kopi Kenangan. The coffee shop was located next to the gas station. At that time, the atmosphere was perfect for drinking coffee because the rain had just stopped. The location of this coffee shop is close to where I live. Perhaps sometimes we can have coffee together ☕.

Front View

I ordered the superior coffee there, this coffee is quite unique namely "Kopi Kenangan Mantan" with Kenangan Blend, and Fresh Milk. There are various choices for this coffee, ranging from regular, large, to jumbo sizes, and you can choose to serve it cold or hot. The waiter also provides the amount of sugar. I ordered a regular size and hot with a normal amount of sugar. Apart from coffee, I ordered classic chocolate bread to fill my stomachs. Then, I headed to the second floor or balcony to sit and wait for my order.

Appearance of Kopi Kenangan Mantan

One of the interesting things is that the packaging of this coffee cup has the words "2024 Kerjaan nyaman plus punya teman berbagi perasaan" which means that in 2024 we hope to have a comfortable job and have friends to share feelings with. Bread packaging is also very simple, with the words Roti Coklat Klasik Creamy Chocolate.

First, this coffee has a very suitable taste for me; it has a slightly bitter taste and is not too sweet. The appearance of the coffee when opened shows a picture of love. The bread is also very tasty, with a very full chocolate filling, so it is enough to make you full. In terms of location, this place is quite comfortable even though it is located on the side of the road. The atmosphere is quite cool, and to the east, there is a river and trees. Unfortunately, I did not have time to ask about the availability of Wi-Fi. The price of Kopi Kenangan Mantan is IDR 18 K and that of bread is IDR 9 K, a fairly reasonable price and suitable for those who want to hang out there for a while. The total number of reviews was 8.7/10.

As explained on the website, Kopi Kenangan is one of the fastest growing grab-and-go coffee chain in Indonesia. The idea of Kopi Kenangan started because the founders have the mission to spread their passion for Indonesian coffee as a local brand from Indonesia to the rest of the world. This coffee shop is open from 8.00 am to 11.00 pm.

Starting to like coffee

This time, I visited a coffee shop in Praketa Coffee Shop, the location of which is not far from the center of Unsoed, Purwokerto. The coffee I ordered was "Kopi Tubruk" with Arabica coffee beans. Previously, the waiter offered Arabica or Robusta coffee beans. Furthermore, she explained that Arabica coffee tastes more sour than robusta coffee. Unlike Arabica coffee, the taste produced by Robusta coffee is more bitter, so I ordered Arabica coffee because to be honest, I do not like bitter tastes, but maybe one day I want to try Robusta coffee.

I went to the shop at around 8 pm accompanied by one of my high school friends. In addition to coffee, I ordered French fry. Let's go straight to the review, first the Arabica Kopi Tubruk, in terms of taste, according to what was explained by the waiter, coffee from Arabica beans has a sour taste, not bad, but I think I prefer sweet, maybe I will ask for separate sugar in the future. Furthermore, the fried potatoes are very delicious, the potatoes are big, the taste is addictive, the sauce is suitable, and not too spicy. The place is very comfortable, there is a smoking area and a non-smoking area, because my friend wanted to use his electronic cigarette, so we sat in the smoking area. Unfortunately, Wi-Fi is not very fast and suddenly slows. The price of Kopi Tubruk is IDR 15 K, and that of fry is IDR 15 K. The price is quite affordable for students. My total review is 8.5/10.

Tubruk Coffee

Before we went home, we were asked by the waiter to fill out a satisfaction survey. After I filled out the survey, I received a 20% discount coupon that was valid for one month, which was great if I wanted to drink coffee there again and get a discount. FYI, this coffee shop is open every day, from 8 am to 11 pm. This coffee shop was established on Instagram in 2015. That is the story of how I started to like coffee, hopefully we could have coffee together later ðŸ˜€☕.

Finally, a Scopus journal!

In February 2022, we published an international journal indexed by Scopus. Food Research is an open-access journal that publishes reviews, original research articles, and short communications focusing on food science and technology, food service management, nutrition, nutraceuticals, food innovation, and agriculture food science. The journal originated in Malaysia. At the time, the journal’s quartile was Q3 based on Scimago Journal and Country Rank (SJR).

Journal homepage view

It took a long time for it to be published in the Food Research Journal, perhaps because the queue was very long. We went through the process from submission to publication, which took approximately one year. The charge of publishing this journal can be seen in the author’s guidelines on the journal website. In the past, we paid around IDR 4 or 5 million; if I am not mistaken, it depended on the number of pages. The good thing is that we can contribute together, so it does not burden us too much.

This article is entitled Physicochemical and functional properties of yoghurt made from cow milk, colostrum, and milk-colostrum combination. This research data came from my research while studying for my master's degree. This research is independent, and I was assisted by my colleague with the same research field but with different variables. The variables in this study were colour, total solids, lactic acid, antioxidant activity, and fatty acid profile.

First Publication Experience

On this occasion, I will share my experience of publishing in national journals. Starting from research during undergraduate, I succeeded in writing a thesis. Then the data from the thesis is used for training in writing scientific papers in one of the master's courses. The output of this course is that students are trained to submit articles to journals.

Journal homepage view

The journal we are targeting is Jurnal Teknologi Hasil Peternakan (JTHP) with the article title "The Effect of Using Different Percentage of Pectin on the pH Value and Total Titrated Acid of Cow's Milk Yogurt". JTHP is a research journal managed by the Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Universitas Padjadjaran and published in March and September. This journal is intended to publish original research articles related to the aspects of material, processing technology, and quality of dairy, meat, egg, edible insect/worm products, edible and non-edible by-products, and livestock waste.

The article was published in March 2021. Sadly, when this article was published, a third author had already passed away. I express my deepest gratitude for the guidance and knowledge that he has taught me. When our article in this journal was published, it had not been accredited by SINTA and had already had an ISSN. At that time, the charge of publishing articles in this journal was free.
